The Senior Thesis Project
@ Faith Baptist School
@ Faith Baptist School
Since 2012 Seniors at Faith Baptist School have been required to complete a thesis paper as part of their final English credit in order to graduate. The Senior Thesis paper at Faith Baptist School showcases the cumulative development of the student's individual rhetorical skills founded upon their entire education, spiritual, social, and academic.
The "Project" includes papers both the Junior and Senior years. The first papers are reflection papers while the second papers are thesis driven arguments requiring a defense thereof by the Senior students. Project culminates in a display or multimedia presentation (website, blog, PPT, etc.).
As the project grows with the needs of the students, so do the way the students respond and interact with one another during this. In order to promote inter dependency, students will review one another's completed papers both after the 1st draft and the 2nd draft. Once finished the students will take the final drafts home during the final weeks of the project, read their peer's, develop 5 questions, and then, during the defense of their papers, the students and teachers will have 5 minutes to ask these questions to the students defending. While at times in the past only Sr.'s presented, now both classes finish the entirety of the project, including drafts, defenses, and and presentation boards.
